Insights from the Primary Care Show 2024: A Nova Healthcare Solutions Perspective

On the 15^th & 16^th May 2024, our team at NovaHS had the privilege of exhibiting at the Primary Care Show 2024 at the NEC Birmingham.  

Dr Samim Azim (Chief Executive Officer and Founder),Shivani Chadha (Lead Pharmacist), Devinia Patel (Admin Manager), Nashua Diaz Anaya (Admin Manager) and I, Katie Caddick, (Executive Personal Assistant) thoroughly enjoyed our time at the show. The following is a brief insight into our experience.

With thousands in attendance the Primary Care Show 2024 featured over 200 exhibitors and held more than 100 sessions led by healthcare experts. We were happy to contribute to an event that shared our mission to enhance patient care as it quickly became a vibrant hub of ideas and solutions dedicated to improvement within the primary care sector.  

The core themes of digital health, patient-centric care, and innovative medical technologies resonated deeply with our goals and fresh insights provided inspiration for our ongoing projects. Whilst there were many thought-provoking sessions, one that stood out was presented around practice finances which highlighted that they are going down by almost 30% from the peak during covid. It's crucial to understand the underlying causes of this decline. The end of government financial support, changes in patient behaviour post-pandemic, and rising operational costs could all be contributing factors.

Additionally, we had the privilege of engaging in conversation with two highly insightful individuals during the show: Dr. Mike Neville, IGPM accredited, and Dr. Mark Gillam, GP Partner and Clinical Faculty Member of the Primary Care Transformation Team at NHS England. Their perspectives added tremendous value to the discussions.

All of our attendees valued the opportunity to spend two days discussing a commitment to integrating innovative solutions to streamline healthcare delivery and enhanced patient outcomes with like-minded colleagues. With over 150 visitors to our stand, these networking sessions with a numerous professionals and industry leaders reinforced our understanding of many of the challenges faced by colleagues working within primary care and we welcomed the opportunity to offer comfort and discuss how NovaHS could support their organisations.    

The NovaHS team had a great time exploring the various stands, meeting a wide range of new people and learning about the different services on offer. Plus, the team came away laden with plenty of freebies provided by generous fellow exhibitors that no one could resist! A key takeaway for the team: chocolate is a crowd-pleaser! Healthcare professionals or otherwise, everyone loves chocolate!

The Primary Care Show 2024 was an enriching experience that aligned perfectly with our objectives at NovaHS. The innovations and insights gained will play a crucial role in our continued efforts to revolutionise patient care and I would encourage fellow healthcare professionals to consider attending future events. Certainly, we shall be looking forward to joining more events in the future.
